Rider Education Classes

Basic Rider Course (BRC)
The BRC is
aimed at beginning and returning riders of all ages.
In this course you’ll learn how to operate a
motorcycle safely, with a strong emphasis on the special
skills and mental attitude necessary for dealing with
traffic. This
course involves classroom instruction (with homework prior
to class) and practical instruction taught in a safe
environment. The
class size is limited to eight students and motorcycles are
provided as part of the course.
The non-refundable fee for the BRC is $275.

Course Registration
All courses
must be paid for in full before registration is accepted and
class scheduled.
Payment can be made online via our
PayPal page, or sent via Mail to our mailing
address. Due to the limited size of our classes, there are no refunds
for missed classes.
There is a $25 change fee for rescheduling a class
after 5:00 PM on the Tuesday immediately preceding the
student’s scheduled class.

Additional Information
Upon
successful completion of the BRC participants will be
eligible for their motorcycle endorsement through
Alaska
DMV
without any further testing.
Some insurance companies provide premium discounts on
motorcycle coverage for completion of the BRC.
All Rider Coaches are certified by the
Motorcycle Safety
Foundation (MSF).

Experienced Rider Course (ERC)
The ERC is
for those who want to hone their muscle memory and fine-tune
their mental skills needed for survival in traffic.
Using your own motorcycle, you’ll put into practice
the techniques of managing traction, stopping quickly,
cornering and swerving.
The class size is limited to ten students and
students ride their own motorcycles.
Fee for the ERC is $120 for non-members and $100 for
members of Juneau ABATE.
